Jody wants a child's digital camera and how with severe ROBPI will he take picturs. It's bad enough from excperience that this is a right handed world, but for him to be left handed and only left handed some things are hard for him. We finally got the power wheels 4-wheeler he wanted, the controls are on the middle and left instead of right. so any advice?

Re: take pictures
My five-year-old daughter is also ROBPI, and she uses my digital camera all the time! She has figured out how to hold the camera with her left hand, and keep the hand out of the way of the lens. It's actually pretty amazing. We hardly ever point out to my daughter that things she is using were made for left-handed/two-handed people. We simply explain how to use the device, and let her figure it out. She has never yet failed at anything she has tried to do. When I try to explain to her how she can compensate, she gets frustrated and wants to do it herself, anyway. So I've learned to leave her alone, which she prefers, and I believe has been best for her.
Re: take pictures
thanks- i told my husband that in a year or two he would figure it out. he already plays the x-box and with his leapster. but he gets frustrated too if we try to help.

Re: take pictures
Many people who are ROBPI hold the camera upside down to take pics.

Sorry. I don't think you'll find anything. We got Joshua a Fisher Price Camera, but the button is on the right side.
Nikon experimented with a left handed pro camera, but it didn't take off.
The advice I read is to use the camera upsidedown instead. I found a left handed 35mm film camera if you don't want to go digital. Otherwise, you can get a cheap camera phone, don't they have the button in the middle?
Good Luck

Sony DSC-T7 digital camera - Dimensions and Operation
The Cyber-shot T7 which won an iF gold award is a card-type digital camera that is just 9.8 mm deep at the thinnest point. The shooting-mode settings can easily be controlled using only the left hand, as the relevant buttons are all located on the left-hand side of the camera's rear face.

By the way the camera can be used easily by right- or left-handed photographers

Re: take pictures
you know- every time something new comes up i always tell my husband "let me go ask my bpi buddies". you guys ALWAYS help. I think since he is 3, we will go with the fisher price digital that he wants and teach him to use it upside down. thanks to ya'll!!!

"we will go with the fisher price digital"
It's a neat little camera. It's been burried in the dirt, dropped, banged, and still keeps ticking. It takes pretty crappy pictures (by my standards), but is pretty fun for Joshua.
Good Luck. Here's some sample pictures:

Boys and their toys (I like my camera).
