Lump in BPI hand...

Post by veggiebug »

Here's an odd question, and maybe I should just check in with my family Dr. but last week I noticed I have a small, softer, pea size, movable lump about thumb width down from my ring finger on my BP hand. Not sure what it is or what caused it. So I thought I'd check with you guys. I looked on Web MD and nothing came up, has anyone had anything similar to this?

Let me know.
Thanks.

It could be a nodule that formed from overuse of the joint. I got that once at the base of my index finger from using my cane and putting too much pressure when I walked with it. It wasn't sore at the start, but became painful then one day it stopped hurting and went away. But I had shown it to my doctor to make sure it wasn't anything serious.

How is the baby, btw?

Hey Tracy,
How is Jack? I hope he is well.

I would go get that checked out by your family physician and see what he thinks. It doesn't seem right really. I hope you find out and keep us posted. I hope you and your family are doing well.

It could be a cyst but you might want to get it checked out to make sure its nothing. I sure hope it is nothing, good luck!

Jack is doing well. He's walking and beginning little tantrums, which is an entirely new issue. It's hard to control him when he throws himself back, I try to explain to him that he can't do that but he's 1 year old. How much can I explain, and how much would he follow?

Anyway, he's doing great. Still a sweetie, and his smile lights up my world.

Update...I FINALLY got the guts to go to the Dr. and ask about my hand. Turns out I have Trigger Finger. Now we just wait, I'm supposed to go easy on it to see if it improves, but if it gets worse I'll have to have cortisone-like shots (don't want that). If that doesn't work then surgery is an option (again don't want that). So I'm trying to behave and not over use it.

I kinda wonder whether it's from me holding things so tightly so I don't drop them. Not sure what caused it.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Well at least now you know what is wrong.
I had cortisone shots in my knee cap and they worked so quickly for me I could not believe it.

I would hate to see you have to go through any type of surgery with a baby to take care of.
OPS.. I forgot Jack must be a big boy by now.

Traci,

Thanks for keeping us posted as to what is going on with your hand. Did he say it is directly related to over usage of your hand?

As for baby Jack...well, all wonderful children throw fits. *L* He wouldn't be normal if he didn't. I know it is frustrating at times, but they sure can throw a good one sometimes.

Take care of yourself. *HUGS*

Not sure if it's over useage or from when I broke my wrist and arm a couple years ago. They don't know what causes it.

I'll keep you posted.
