I can finally do my hair again!!! Its been almost 9 weeks since I have done my hair and I am so excited to finally do it all by my self again! Its great to have my own schedule back instead of living by some one elses and when they have time.
My arm is doing great! This surgery was the besat decision I have made in a while! I am so happy I chose to give it a try and I cant wait to see my doctor on Aug. 22nd to thank him for how he has helped to improve my life. I am 9 weeks out of surgery tomorrow and still 100% pain free!!! my scapula is completly stable and my compensation is now minimal compared to what it used to be. I am starting to use my hand better and there is even hope of individual finger use. Something I never thought I would hear!
thought I would share my exciting news fore the week.
Hugs,
Amy 20 years old ROBPI from MN

I wish we could go, but we have absolutely no extra money this year - and Daniel doesn't have any more time off (we used it up after Aria's primary surgery)!
Maybe next year!!! Camp sounds like a blast!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

CONGRATULATIONS AMY!!
You inspire courage to trust your instincts after weighing all of the pros & cons of surgury. Pain free is a really, really a big deal!! I am happy for you.
Boy, do I identify with not having to wait for others to "make time" to do my hair! UGH!! my sister was always too busy.& I had oily hair. That's why I indulged in a weekly hair dresser appt's when I was single & working in the '60's. It wasn't a luxury for me, but necessary.

Amy,
Congratulations to you!! Gosh, what a great feeling it must be for you to have more range of motion like this. I am so happy for you.
I have a bit of sad news though, I am not going to be able to come to the camp this year. I am so bummed out, but work permits me to stay on Friday until 2:30p.m. and then it would be about a 11 hour drive to Seattle, so I wouldn't get in until way late and am a bit worried about me driving all that way( it kills me when I drive to long).
I will miss everyone and sure be with you all in spirit. I can't believe I can't come this year.
I'm so happy for you though. Keep up the great work and I'll talk to you soon.
