Well here we go! Booked in for surgery...seems finite...going to do it.damn

Post by shaunnb »

Hi all, first of all i would like to thank everyone here. This saturday i will be in surgery beginning at 8am. They said it will last 10-12hours....damn long time if you ask me. Dr Phil Griffin who is a plastic and rehabilitation surgeon, and head of his unit at the Flinders Medical Centre will be operating.I wont deny that this surgery scares the crap out of me, but i am tending to think it is probably the best thing for me at this stage. they will probably cut through my collarbone so he can access all the brachial plexus nerves and inspect them. Then they will be plating it.Even more metal to go off in a metal detector in the airport. If required they will harvest nerve from the sural nerve in my leg.so I will probably be in hospital for a further 2-3 days following surgery.God Bless you all...

Reading your post makes my heart jump for you, a little out of fear I must admit but mostly out of hope. I know nothing about your situation but imagine it must be just like mine, since my arm was paralyzed in a car accident in April and I am wishing for a surgical option that will restore sensation and movement and end pain. It sounds a little odd, but you will truly be in my thoughts on Saturday and I do wish you the very best. Be brave and strong.
