Wrist extension surgery

Post by Mica »

Can anyone give me information about this surgery? We just found out that our daughter may need this in the future (she's 11 months now), but we know very little about it.

We would appreciate any information you think we would benefit from knowing. Thank you!!!

Hi there, our daughter had a tendon transfer done for her wrist and thumb in Dec. 06 to gain wrist extension and better thumb position. We feel it was a sucess, as she can now brush her hair, feed herself with affected hand and much more everyday. If you have any specific ???'s you can email me at tonyahorsecrazy@fuse.net I would be more than happy to share. many prayers.

My friends daughter just had the surgery. Before the surgery her wrist was in a locked position. They were going to go in and cut the tendon and then break the bone to straighten it. All they did was cut the tendon and the wrist straightened right out. I'll tell her to log on and tell you more details.
