New Roll Call...

Post by hope16_05 »

Jenny B on the TBPI board crunches numbers on their injuries and I think it would be interesting to do the same here but I would like to start a new Roll Call since the last one I would find was pretty outdated (2002, and many people I have never seen posts from and many thera were guests)

I would like to do some stats on location, ROBPI/LOBPI, Horners or not, age, and sex.

So I will start,
I am Amy, 20 years old ROBPI from Minnesota and female. I do not have Horners syndrome that I know of.
Amy 28 years old ROBPI from MN

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Yeah, great idea, Amy!

I am Carolyn,LOBPI(Whole Upper Lt.side,limbs/)and CP(leg & foot). Age 69. I don't have Horner's but was informed by a BPI Specialist in April 2006, that combinations of range variety types of BPI & CP are common occurances.
FYI, Range of CP injury differs individually too.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Kathleen
ROBPI, Horner's and c4,c5,c6,c7,c8 & T1 involved.
Right now I think I am the Queen of Secondary injuries...

OK I know that's not really funny but perhaps you younger OBPI can do a better job of protecting your spine, hands and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL YOUR unaffected arm.
I'm 67 from New York, married for 42 years.
We have three children 2 daughters and one son.
We have four granddaughters and one grandson.
I'm a member of the Board of Directors of UBPN.
I found UBPN Dec.1999 until that time I thought I was the only one with a rare birth injury.

I'm Rachel from Montana. I am 35 years old and have a ROBI. C5, C6 & C7 injured. I had the mod quad surgery about four years ago with Dr. Nath. It has helped me out a lot although I still deal with pain. I do not have Horner's that I am aware of.

I found UBPN about 5 years ago and if it weren't for my friends here at UBPN I do not know what condition I would be in.

I say this all the time but Thank You again to everyone who has helped me through the hard times.

I'm Joanie, female, LOBPI, 58 years old. As far as I know, I do not have Horner's.
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and have lived in northeastern Ohio all my life. I've been living in Twinsburg for 18 years now.
I've been married for 33 years. We have no children.
I found UBPN in July 2005. Until then I didn't know of anyone else with this birth injury. Kath, you're not the only one who thought you were alone.

I'm Nancy, 53 years old, LOBPI. c5, c6, c7, c8 and T1 all injured. I do have Horner's syndrome. I live in Kent, Ohio but was born in Lowell, Massachusetts.

Married for 34 years to Tim. We have one son and two grandchildren and the best daughter in law one can have too, she is like a daughter to me.

I've been involved with UBPN since the beginning, as one of the founding members of the Board of Directors, and am glad to have made so many wonderful friends through this organization.

Greetings All!

Hi,I'm Karen (female), age 45 years young! ROBPI with other complications from what I have learned over the last 6 months. No Horner's that I know of.

I have been reading these boards for many years and as others thought I was the only one with such a unique arm.

I live in Chippewa Falls, WI with my husband of 18 years and our 2 awesome teenage daughters. I also have a 26 year old son and his wife and a 25 year old step daughter and her husband. Oh ya, and our dog named Montana. :)

So that's me in a nut shell!

Take Care!
Karen

I'm Christy, female LOBPI with no Horners. I'm 33 and the mother to a baby girl in Heaven and a set of b/g twins who are now in the midst of the terrible twos.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about my injury as no doctors around here seem to be qualified to help me.

Like Kath, until I found this site I thought I was the only one with this "rare" condition. I am so grateful for this site and the people on it.
