Ditto here.....money and time are the definite issues here. And yes, our doctor who is speaking there will be greatly missed here after she relocates. You Long Islanders are lucky to be getting her.

Timing, it is right at the begining of school and I am a teacher startinga new job. We have family we could stay with so money would not be as much of an issue. Would really love to though.

BTW I know a lot of people said money was a factor. I know at one time our service coordinator through first steps said there was some money for going to workshops to cover expenses. Notsure how it varies by states or with the budget cut backs if there is any money left, but it might be worth checking into for some of you.

same for me - time and money! Is there a possibility of a west coast conference in the future?

For me, I need to know about this sort of event at least a year in advance so that I can plan summer vacation/activities...living on a budget means advance planning and plenty of headway for saving up both vacation hours at work and money in the bank.

Also, I would want to know that really groundbreaking, new and exciting presentations were planned with information that related particularly to my son and his age/stage with his injury. Not to seem jaded or whatever, but I am not interested in hearing stuff about newborns for example (although plenty of other people are) but I am instead interested in cutting edge research efforts, psychological issues for older children in particular, surgical techniques and outcome for older children, etc.

My two cents.

I think you should explain in more detail what the children will be doing while the conference is on.

I think that UBPN gets a big turnout at camp because there are a lot of fun things that kids can do all day long. They are part of the big plan - a priority in the plan.

I hope this is helpful.

Our daughter just had surgery in April, then we had a family vacation in May. Our time and money is tapped out this year. I agree with Bridget, and would appreciate information on the older children.
