Head shape at birth?

Post by katep »

I was just looking over Mom2Michael's pictures of her son at birth, and one thing struck me:

Her son's head was perfectly shaped at birth, too!

I remember the nurses at Joshua's first "specialist" visit (at three days) thinking he was a C-section baby because his head was so round and non-deformed (ie. no classic "conehead"!). I have always wondered if this was because his shoulders were so big, it somehow reduced the amount of pressure on his head as it passed down the birth canal. Or something like that?

Wondering what other OBPI babies' heads looked like at birth...

Amber's head was round, but I only pushed a couple minutes (she was not my first baby). No time for any molding to happen in her situation.

Maia's head was conelike because they started me pushing at 7 cms (they manually tried to stretch my cervix open) and I pushed for 4 hours like that - at least 3 hours against a not fully dilated cervix. The top of her head matched my cervix.

Logan (ROBPI) had a very cone-shaped head when he was born.

Jody had a nice head too. However, Manny my older son had the cone head and also had SD.

My daughter Lucy's head was round as well. I thought that it was odd that she didn't have a cone-head, I pushed for 2 hours!
