If you had carpel tunnel release or ulnar nerve moved in BPI arm

Post by kissygoose »

did you have to have a specialist do it? Do you think a regular neurosurgeon could do it if he confered with a bpi specialist? Did the surgery help? How long was the recovery?

Dustin had carpel tunnel surgery when he was in the o.r. getting his wrist put back together. His was caused by the trauma to the wrist in the accident, they said that was quite common. The orthopedic surgeon that was fixing the bones also did the carpel tunnel surgery. Guess it helped he has no pain. Hmm don't remember recovery time, was hard to tell with everything else going on at the time. It was in his BPI arm. Not sure this is what you are looking for. It's the smallest scar of all of them, lol.

I had ulnar nerve reposition in my bpi arm a few years back. It did help alot with the numbness in my ring and pinky finger. The recovery was a few months. I did have a bpi specialist do the procedure.

My Brother had the carpel tunnel procedure a few weeks ago. It was performed by a carpel tunnel specialist. If I have the story right, it was caused by a Vitamin B-12 deficiency that also has affected his ulnar nerve. He has the same condition in his other hand. He is not BPI.

He was told to delay the ulnar nerve surgery until the results of the carpel tunnel release are in, that is, how the numbness in his fingers recovers. He is planning to undergo carpel tunnel surgery on the other hand. Meanwhile he is being treated with B-12 supplements (injections).

Recovery from the carpel tunnel procedure is progressing with PT by hand therapists.

I have had 2 carpal tunnel releases and a pronator teres releas all in the non BPI arm. It left me with a weak arm. About 1/2 strength of what I had originally. It is back--as well as the same thing in the BPI arm.
There is a wrist splint available in the drug store. It is helpful to wear it at night.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I get B-12 shots because of the bpi and it stops the zingers.
I was also told that I should take a B-Complex vitamin daily due to carpal tunnel and numb tingling in my hands and feet.
It helps but as soon a I stop the same thing starts again.
I don't know why I stop? I just feel good and forget.

My daughter has MS and she was told to take B-12 under her tongue daily to help with sleep issues as well as numbness.
She takes shots of Interferon weekly and its a stronger medications for the MS but she says B-12 twice a day helps her with sleep issues.
