camp 2007

Post by rachelcasa »

Well, I just found out that I may not be able to attend camp due to our new school schedule. I am so bummed out but am going to do everything I can in the next few months to try to work it out. It is so close to home for me and I really want to see everyone.

I'm trying to get people to understand that everyone at UBPN is my family and it's like a family reunion for me. Of course not many understand that! Grrr..
anyways...just needed to vent a second. I sure hope it will work out.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Rachel

Let's keep our fingers crossed that this can work out for you.
I am not sure if its your school schedule or the kids?

If it's yours you may be able to get them to make changes since camp is educational for you...
Hmmmm could you talk them into giving you credit for going? LOL....

If it's the kids maybe you could get a friend to help you out with taking the kids....

OK... I just wish you were coming.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Rachel,

OK, how can we help. If you need give someone my phone number and have them call me or I can call them and will explain how very important this camp is. I think you need to call it a conference, camp sound like to much fun. You know we want to see you.

Thank you everyone,
Unfortunately it is my work schedule. You see I am working at a small rural school. I love my job, it is very rewarding. The only problem is that school starts the week before labor day here. Being that the district clerk is retiring for sure at the beginning of the year, it's all me and another gal. I am going to do my best but it just isn't looking good. *pout* I'm going to see about flying out instead of driving that would eliminate a lot of time. I will not give up...I'm just in a tough position with my job.
*HUGS*
Thanks so much and I miss all of you too.
