exercise after mod quad
Re: exercise after mod quad
Just got back from therapy frankies OT wants to try an experiment with him. Its using the mirror box theory only using a full length mirror he tried it there and said it did make him feel like he was using both arms its cool it makes the brain think you have use of both arms thus tricking the brain into making the arm work. Its also posted on the TBPI board gives a better explanation of how it works. Mare

Re: exercise after mod quad
Hello there and congratulations on the mod quad.
I would highly recommend that he continues with his therapy at home. His PT should be able to give him stretches and exercises to continue doing.
I myself have been somewhat of a slacker on the stretches and exercises but when the time comes and you feel the pain it is amazing how the stretches work. I feel so much better about my arm and myself when I do the stretches.
Tell him to keep up the good work.

Hi Rachel
I do stretch him everyday and he has exercises but the OT keeps splinting him in different ways and does strength exercises each time they are different I'm worried because he still can't raise the arm up much more then he could before the surgery about 10 degrees more to about 70 degees when standing and I feel he really needs the OT to get him more. when laying down he can go to 110 degrees . Were you able to raise your arm up right away I have read some posts that said when the splint came off the arm was able to go up. I know each injury is different but I'm just trying to get an idea of whats going on even the OT is not sure what the problem is and the doctor said it could be thats it's not going to go any further.
