Worse after PT?

Post by kissygoose »

I've been doing PT for a month now due to the car accident. Every once in a while I feel ok usually just after the session. But the rest of the time I hurt worse than I did about mid way through the PT. I haven't done anything outof the ordinary to cause any further damage. I'm just wondering if we're doing something wrong with my PT.

Oh and the pain is with me taking lyrica, Ibprofin and flexeril twice a day.

Have you talked to your PT about this? Are you getting more pain with stretching or with exercise?

I know from doing internships in hand therapy that stretching tight hands is painful for people but the end result is that they feel better once their joints/muscles are loosened.

I'm assuming your going for your shoulder but ask your PT if you haven't about this. When I was in PT last year for my erbs arm some of the stregthening exercises my PT had me do were too much. I told her about it and we backed off so much exercise.

Right now we're just doing streatching. We haven't gotten to the strengthening stuff yet. I started feeling pretty bgood about 2 weeks into the PT but about a week ago I started hurting more and more everyday. I'll definitely mention it to my PT this week. Thanks.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

It is very important to let your PT know if you are experiencing pain after PT.

Sometimes when I start PT again I feel achy and I hurt a little because I am not use to working some of the muscles he stretches.
But I was always told I should not experience pain.
If I am tight I am sore after PT.

Try to tell you PT everything that is hurting and explain when it happens and how long it lasts.
