Hello,
My 8 year old daughter is in the school chorus. Dress for the show is either jeans or dark pants. She wore dark blue pants to the dress rehearsal, but wants to wear jeans for the performance because "all the other kids" wore jeans. Does anyone know where I can find pull up/elastic waist, no buttons, no snaps, no zipper jeans in a girls size? The performance is Monday evening, so mail order is not an option. Thanks so much!

Re: Pull Up Jeans
You could let her try button jeans over the weekend and see how she does, I think I was about her age when I started wanting to wear jeans. THe bottons and zippers are completely possible to do one handed!

Hi! I know they may be more expensive than other stores, but at Gymboree the jeans all have an adjustable waist. We can buy Olivia (she is skinny) regular zip up jeans and tighten the waist, and the elastic in the 'adjustable' waist allows her to pull them up and down herself- she is 3. Hope this helps.

Cori: Juliana has started to wear jeans (thanks to the older sibs..). She is 7 years old. She has limited hand function and no biceps. She does button her jeans when I am not around to help her. She pulls them up one handed, then sits down and bends her left knee into her, putting her affected arm between the knee and her body. Now her hand is closer to her belly (she can't otherwise do that), she holds the pants in her affected hand and her right hand does all the work. Then she stands up and zips them. At school she leans against the wall (ick!). Well she used to, I guess it grossed her out, so now she has two friends in class who go to the bathroom with her and button her jeans for her.
I do recommend, especially at the beginning, to buy jeans that are cut bigger, so it is easier to do.
A wacky conversation took place at the last board meeting, as we parents asked the bpi's to share how they did their pants. Truth is, I went home and told Juliana how they did things and she incorporated some of it into her routine. (yes, Amy...the finger thru the hole is now used by Juliana!)
Lands End still makes girls jeans with elastic waist.
Oh, and the more crafty parents have replaced the button with velcro. Juliana finds the snaps easier than the buttons.
And thank the fabric gods for lycra!!! stretch jeans are a miracle!!! hahahhaaa (and not just for her...)
good luck,
claudia

Re: Pull Up Jeans
lol Claudia, I almost forgot about buttoning our pants at the board meeting. Glad Juliana found a way that works for her!
Another tip is buy the jeans a size bigger and get a belt. Thats very helpful too when buttoning jeans, also nice for the little ones, they will grow into them and you wont have to buy more in a month or two.
Good luck!

I know Target always has elastic waist boy jeans - I buy them there for Matthew every season. I have never taken notice if the girls section does but the boys jeans would probably work ok I think.

Re: Pull Up Jeans
snap jeans are a better choice at our house too but we have been unable to find them and I am a big wal mart shopper so not sure why they aren't in our area. Like the other 7 year old ours too has a friend that helps her in the bathroom-when she visits at their house, she won't wear them to school yet.
Maybe the older BPI "kids" can post and share the jean button tips with all of us? Maybe someday we can have a "tip" board?
thanks

Target had snap jeans/pants and shorts when I was there a couple of weeks ago
