Chicago Specialists

Post by robbo »

Hello. My son suffered a BP injury at birth. He is 13 now and has been in and out of therapy all his life. i would like to have him re-evaluated.

Is anyone aware of who the top specialists are in the Chicago area?

Thank you.

Are you willing to travel or would you prefer to stay in the Chicago area? You could check into Shriners they might have a specialist or refer you to one? MN had a specialist that works both for shriners and Gilette. Or we also have Mayo.
Sorry I cant be of more help, closer to your area.
Good luck!

I think that Children's in Milwaukee has a "BPI" clinic. Never have tried them though. Good luck in your search !!!!!!! GAYLE

There is an OT at Laribida (sp?) -her name is Audrey Yasukawa. She's known as an OT who has a lot of bpi experience. Maybe contact her and see if she has experience with anyone local?

Robbo, have you tried the Chicago support group? See the Events message board for some info. Also see there that Dr. Nath is in Chicago again Apr 28.

About Milwaukee, since Brandonsmom brought it up:

Children's Hospital in Milwaukee does have a BPI clinic. The 3 staff are with Medical College of Wisconsin. I am seeing Dr. James Sanger in a few weeks (he sees the adult patients.) Dr. Hani Matloub sees children and they have another colleague whose name I didn't memorize. Other than their names I don't have an idea yet about them. The website gives some information.

Among other topics, I am going to talk to Dr. Sanger about serial casting for my elbow contracture. Dr Nath explained this when he was in Chicago 2 weeks ago and it sounds so easy.

Good luck

-Erik
