That's what the letter I got from the SSA said. Apparently all my drs changed their tune on me as well as the judge thinking I do plenty at home. I think they forget that I have to. Regardless of pain or further damage I have to lift my children even if I do have to do it one handed. I'm really bummed. My lawyer is out till Tuesday so I have to wait and see what she says.

That is what you have an attorney for, let them fight for you. You certainly can get it. I can get it for my daughter who is 10 because she has ADHD and I don't because others need it worse thatn she does....just keep on keeping on !!! You need to tell the Attorney to tell them that you do things at home because of nessecity !!

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

I know. Sean and I were talking about that. Today when my mama's helper came I cleaned the kitchen. I had to. It quite litterally was about to draw bugs and rats. Between my shoulder and the accident I hadn't been able to mop. And Sean has been swamped with everything else. I told him, "what do they expect. The cleaning fairy is going to come and clean my house?". It really steams me. I have to pick up my children to put them in their high chairs. Sean sleeps durring the day and I can't wake him up every time I have to pick one of them up and we can't afford full time help. Hell, I can't even afford PT. It just steams me because they don't seem to take things the way they should be taken.
They had something in there about me being on message boards and how I function on them ok and type and such. They didn't take in consideration that a lot of times I type one handed. When I do use both hands I screw up about every other word. And half the time I sit here for a few minutes in the middle of a sentance because I can't remember what I was doing.

I finally read the whole report and it's making me sick. They are basically making me out to be a liar and someone who is out to cheat the government. I have a real big problem with what people think of me. It doesn't matter if I've never met them or will again it bothers me. So much so that reading this report is causing me to sole sleep. I just want to crawl in a hole and never come out.
Re: Unfavorable
Try contacting your senator. They are the ones that are supposed to help with problems with the SS dept. We contacted Sen Kohl when they were dragging their feet with Dustin. He was approved the next week.

Kissy,
I tried to get SS to help with Brandon's medical bills when he was little, they denied him because they said that he could hold his bottle with both arms and that was all that mattered. Not true, he never held his bottle with two hands......anyways, we found out later that the reason they didn't give us SS was because my hubby was in the NAVY and the government wasn't going to pay us twice so to speak....GRRRRRRRR GAYLE

Re: Unfavorable
I know someone also told me to contact my congressman. But I don't even know who our reps are and how to go about contacting them. I mean...what do you say to them? I also have a major problem with new things so contacting someone for the first time qualifies under that and is a very hard thing for me to do.
Re: Unfavorable
I think you can look it up on line. That's where I found the senators phone number. I called and said we were having a problem with the ss agency. The person on the phone said they would send me the form. I filled it out sent it back and they sent me a letter saying they had contacted ss. It was really simple. Within the week ss sent us the accepted letter for Dustin. It is really worth the shot. I know, I also have a hard time with these things, but I had to fight for that and ins to pay some bills they were supposed to. I had to take anti depressants and build myself up for days to be able to make these calls.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I hope your lawyer brought this change in SSD Blue Book to the Judges attention.

They also have to understand that you need the good arm to use for the rest of your life. You need to make them aware that one arm has to serve you for daily living activities. Since your "unaffected arm" is beginning you fail you will loose what little independence you still have.
It is so hard but keep fighting.
I did not receive my back benifit because they treated mine as a new injury... I felt that was unfair but just could not fight anymore after I was approved...
I started to work at 15 part time and paid in all my life and one of the things they were worried about was that at 61 I was just trying to get out of working... ugh.
