? for anyone who has done e-stim often
? for anyone who has done e-stim often
Did after a while your affected arm seem to be different in sensitivity. Normally I'm hypersensitive on that arm but there is at least one place between two electrode spts that seems all the sudden to have almost no sensation. I'm a little concerned and wondering if this e-stim thing is frying nerves in there. I'm going to call tomorrow and ask the rep but I wanted other opinions too.

Christina,
E-stim does afftect your sensation. For me I dont have a lot of feeling so I have actually gained feeling in my arm but for you if you are generally hypersensitive what might have happed is that you have de-sensitized that area. Observing OT I learned that you can make things way less sensitve with different therapy. I hope that is all that it is for you!

ps I have been doing e-stim for 2 and a half years although less regularly now than I used to.

I learned in school that e-stim blocks perception of your pain awareness nerve cells(thereby decreasing pain levels). Thats why they have people use it for pain as well as stimulating muscles. Its not permanent though.
I don't think it would be such a stretch for it to block nornal sensation as well but definitely follow up on that.
Maybe put the patches on different areas of skin?

I talked to the people wo do the machine stuff and they said to ask my doctor. Of course he's in aruba till next week (wish I was there). I'm continuing to use it but I think I'm noticing more and more "spots" that feel weird after a treatment. They slowly get better but they feel so funny.
