T.E.S

Post by Canam »

Just wondering if anyone knows the cost of the TES units and whatever else goes along with them. We are considering trying this now for our daughter and am unsure how to go about getting one. Our therapist said to get a script from our pediatrician then get the unit from a medical supply, does this sound right??

Any tips too for starting on a not quite 3yr old??

Thanks in advance :)

We have been using TES on and off for 5 years. I'd be happy to answer your questions. You can email me at franlitz@gmail.com.

Yes Dustin had a scrip from his Dr for his TES. Then the OT showed us how to use it and we were sent home with it. The first one was covered by our insurance, it was like a rental from the hospital that we returned when we were done with it.

Frankie uses the TES our insurance paid for it but I did get the prices it was $180 a month to rent and $1375.00 to buy. This is in NJ it may be more or less in other states or if you go to a medical supply store. Mare

THRESHOLD ELECTRICAL STIMULATION

It is a little electrical shock that stimulates the muscle causing it to contract and thereby exercise. It is not set painfully high, just enough to move the muscle. You place little sticky pads on the points of the muscle that you want to stimulate. Dustin had 2 different kinds. Your OT or PT, if you have one, should have the units. The first we had, which I don't remember the name was covered by our insurance. The second which was an EMPI was not covered and they reduced the cost for us to $105.00 per month. Can look up the cost to buy it if you're interested but we just rented it.
