Krista
How is Ella doing? I hope she is getting some relief.
This weather does not help with the pain.
I find if my arm is cold I am in pain.
Sometimes I have the sleeve of my sweater on my right arm only because it's freezing even when I am typing.
Please let us know how she is feeling.
Saying prayers for her
Kath

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Re: Dr Waters in Waltham (Ella's pain update too)
Thanks for asking about Ella. Her appointment in Waltham with Dr Waters went well. Dr Waters believes her pain is from either a growth spurt or over using the muscles around the area of her scapula. He says he usually sees this type of situation when a child begins a new sport or takes up something where they are using their arm more, but with Ella that is not the case. He said that from what he can see her shoulder joint looks fine and all together she looks great. It's just the pain issue. He said we are to have the MRI in Feb and he will talk to me about the results. Once we get those results we will discuss therapy and concentrate on the PT working on those specific muscles that are causing her pain. So I am giving her some extra warm baths, massaging the knots I feel, and she is stretching in school several times a day. I have a feeling everything will work out. I am just happy that Dr Waters thinks that this is all due to muscle issues and not anything to do with her shoulder joint! I will let you know how her MRI goes and what the results are. Thanks again for asking!!

Whew! great that's it not dislocated!
If it's muscular you may want to try to massage her with Arnica Oil. You can get that online or at Whole Foods or another natural food store. Arnica is used for muscle soreness and can be very helpful. Hope the pain subsides soon.

Krista;
I am glad you got some answers and that it appears to be fairly easy to treat. It sounds as though you and Dr. Waters have a good plan for treatment and she'll be on the road to pain free days in no time! We'll continue to keep you both in our prayers.
Amy;
Thanks for thinking of Katie. She does still complain about pain but not constant pain. Mostly when she pushes on things, like the button to release her car seat clasp. She points from her elbow to her wrist. She goes to see Dr. Adelson on Feb. 12, so we'll see what he has to say. Thanks again for thinking of her!!
Love and Prayers;
Cheri, Mom to Katie, 4, LOBPI
