I would suggest seeing a pain doctor. There are doctors out there who specilize in the treatment and management of pain. I think you said you were seeing a neurologist? It may be worth a try.
Also, I know that cymbalta is another drug prescribed for pain. Its an antidepressent that has pain reducing effects as well.

Lyrica not working anymore.
Re: Lyrica not working anymore.
Thanks Becky. I'm having trouble getting refered to a pain specialists. My neuro talks about it but won't follow through. We did talk about cymbalta though but I was just diagnosed with bi-polar and they are still figuring out the meds. I'm already over-medicated with anti-depresants (started having halucinations) so I doubt my psych would go for that one. I am on effexor which is supposed to be the same way.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

Christina,
Please report the side effcts you are getting from Effexor to your Pysch Dr./team ASAP. It may not be the one for you but they won't know that if you don't report YOUR side effects of halucanations....

Re: Lyrica not working anymore.
Carolyn...not to worry. I did report it to my psych when I saw him yesterday. He actually thinks it's the Trazadone they started me on a little over a month ago when they also upped my effexor that was causing the halucinations. He said the fact that I started having them also is pretty much the clincher that I've been miss-diagnosed for the last 10 years. I was always told I had cronic depression but my new doc says that with my history and now these halucinations that it pretty much is a good bet that I actually have bi-polar. So they took me off the Trazadone and put me on Seraquil (mood stabilizor). He says that if we can get the right mood stabilizor for me I could go off my depression meds at some point.
Lyrica not working anymore.
I just want to cry. The lyrica is not working anymore. I noticed it was starting to not have as much affect but today it's almost back to when I didn't have anything. I really don't want to do anymore pain meds (not that there is anything else according to my dr.) but I don't know what else to do. Getting my dr to do anything is just about impossible. If you can't treat it with drugs he's not for it. I can't even go to PT because we can't afford the co-pay. I try to do stuff at home but it's hard not having that set time away from the twins to dedicate to it. Any suggestions?

Re: Lyrica not working anymore.
I had issues using Lyrica. So, now, I see the pain clinic. I will try Accupuncture and others forms of pain management.

Re: Lyrica not working anymore.
Hi!
I have the same issues with Lyrica. The med worked for a couple months, then, stopped.
Also, I suffer from depression, and possibly bi-polar. I need to see a psychiatrist the end of May 2014 for possible new medications.
I continue to do physical therapy on my BPI arm. I'm in pain, however, I have gained a lot of use from years of exercise.
