17 year old son to have iliarov on Jan 30th

Post by Tessie258 »

Hi,
I have written to a few people individually but I also wanted to post in case there are others out there who are interested in this.
My son Jameson is having the ilizarov device starting on January 30th.
I plan to and hope to do e-mail updates on him so if anyone is intested in this process you can e-mail me and I will add you to the list of how he is doing. Not sure how this will all work out. Any advice from others will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Teresa

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I just can't believe that Jameson is 17!
But then again it's hard for me to believe that Amy is in college... These kids are growing up so fast.

Tessie please keep us posted and I will keep him in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

Thanks all....I am so busy lately that I rarely come here...but I figured since not a lot of people do the ilizarov I should write about it in case others may have to face it too.
Thanks
Teresa
PS. I can't believe Jameson will be 18 in June...he really has grown up fast.

Hi, He's having the surgery in Tucson by Kent Vincent. You can read about him here: http://www.orthoforkids.com/dr_vincent.html
He is an awesome doctor.
Sorry about the e-mail problems...I try to keep my one e-mail semi private to keep out the spam....I do have you on the list.
Thanks for the note!
