Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I love it! They have houses as big as mine but don't want to clutter it I bet.
Every time I ask them to take their stuff they tell me next week, tomorrow or they have the carriages and car seats and can't fit anything more in their cars.

In fact I think I will get big cartons and put each ones left over stuff in it. Mind you they tell me what they think I should get rid of.

Merry Christmas and thanks for the great idea!

Kath,
I am glad that I am not the only one packing now....we close on our house the 27th.....don't know why we planned it that way. They originally wanter us to close on the 21st, I threw a fit. The only Christmas decoration up is the Christmas tree!!! My walls are empty and my cabinets are bare.....off to storage it all goes. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find boxes? I could go on and on...then today my hubby was at the church and a friend of ours said that she would be bringing us moving boxes. HEr neighbors just moved to Boston and the movers left a ton of boxes soooo...she gave them to a friend of ours....and so now I can FINISH !!! HAve fun, but don't over do it !!!! GAYLE

Every time we moved it was in Dec.
We got married in Nov and both moved into our apartment in Dec when we came back from our Honeymoon.
Then we bought our first house and I packed in labor and moved in when my second child was two weeks old and the first was a year... Dec.11
This house we moved into exactly 20 years to the day we moved into our first house.
When we first started dealing with our buyer we were supposed to move Dec.15
I almost lost it... LOL...
I have no idea where I'm going yet nor have I started to pack.
I must be CRAZY...

Where are you going Gayle?

Kath,
WE are buying a house! Just four blocks away but it is still considered a move. We were military so moving is a bad-bad word in our family. This is the last time my hubby said that he will make me do it...next time it will be by choice. But to pack and move a four bedroom house with a 1 1/2 car garage and a basement is a big task anytime let alone at Christmas. Luckily the weather her in Illinois is holding out so we can only hope it stays this way !!

For those that are moving or are getting rid of junk.
A lady at church told me it is easier to get rid of stuff if you take a picture of it and put it in an album. Her kids are older and she did this with a bunch of their "ARTWORK" she said it made it so much easier to get rid of these items. Maybe I need to do this with all of Brandon's therapy toys...that he will never paly with again and all his splints....!!! LOL

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

hmmm sounds like a good idea.
I am moving from a large 5 bedroom and a finished basement to a 2/3 bedroom and about 1/4 the size of this one. I will have to move again when the house we want to buy is finished... I just can't figure how to squeeze my stuff in a small place while I wait. I also have to decide what to keep, store, move or get rid of... ugh too many decisions at this time of year!

Glad you are moving around the corner. I am never moving again after these two moves. I don't move well. I have to move out of my town for a few months and I hate leaving it. I am only talking 10 minutes away... LOL..

On a serious side the last two times I moved I hurt my self. I seem to think I can do things without paying the price. Now that my hands arm and back are so bad this could be a problem... Besides the fact that I am older and a little slower.... It's hard to pace yourself when your packing because 7 weeks fly by.

Off to wrap the real Christmas Presents. I am finished shopping at last! And if I forgot something I'll chalk it up to old age... but my family never lets me use that as an excuse!
Good Luck with the move.

Kath, wow you have a project ahead of you. When we moved into this house we said that I would never move again......that the kids would have to clean the junk out when they put me and my hubby in nursing homes.LOL !

However because of legal issues, not ours, we have to move I hate it too, although being ex-military I am good at it. Back when I first met my hubby, I moved my whole house in the back of a budget truck (24 foot truck) with a trailer with my car and the puppy in his cage in the car, sent my 10 year old on an airplane and put my girls in the truck (AGES 1 and 6 at the time) and moved from Illinois to CAlifornia. I thought my dad would have a heart attack. WE made it safe, but I could never do that again !!! I am getting old !!! GAyle

Check into getting storage...they are so much better than they used to be and really not that expensive.....better yet, store your stuff at your kids house.....turnabout is fair play !! GAYLE
