MIRICLE TRIP !!!! What A Trip.... ( INFECTION)

Well on Monday after I thought David had the flu brings me to Tuesday which I had rushed him to the medical doc thinking it is appendisious turned out to be 2 sores caused from his splint rubbing caused an infection which we had to go to Mayo to have it checked and now brings us too Thursday after he has been on iv antibiotic in the hospital we are finally HOME and Thank God he is doing alot better but I have GREAT news we met Courtney she is in the Hospital with a staff infection and I sure hope she is doing better but I want to say it was a wonderfull way to of finally met her and I am gonna tell you I went to the computer on Wednesday to check on my e-mail and I had logged into this site to check here and read she was at Mayo and I was there at the time reading this so I went down to the information and had told them that this girl I had met on this web site has the same injury as my son and her name is Courtney not knowing her last name or her age and I told the secretary I was in need to finally meet her and if she could help me and she looked in her computer and found a Courtney and sent me to the room number she was in so I went right there and my heart just a pumping and I finally met Courtney and what a wonderful gal she is and I am so glad I met her and later that afternoon I was able to take David my son to her room to meet her and Courtney when you read this he says hello and hope you are feeling better... Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: 28 years old with a right obstetrical brachial plexus injury. 5 surgeries to date with pretty decent results. Last surgery resolved years of pain in my right arm however, I am beginning my journey with overuse in my left arm

Judy,

What a wonderful story. Yes Courtney is a wonderful person, we are all pulling for her to get better soon and also pulling for David.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Judy,
I am soo happy you and your son met Courtney. She is sure an inspiration too me too when I met her last April.
And YES, this Web Site is WONDERFUL and life-changing.
FYI, you are all welcome to all of the Message Boards. Parents on the "General Message Board" are so inspiring and brave like you and David...of course us "Adults With OBPI Message Board" have alot to say too & love to share our experiences & pratcical "How To Do's".
