Social Security
Social Security
My accidents was back on July 21, 2005. As of now my right hand is capable very light grasping. I have no bicept contraction nor forearm supination. I have applied twice for SSD and have been denied each time. I now have a lawyer handling my SSD claim. Has anybody with are injury received social security benefits? If so, can they eventually work while being on SSD?

Re: Social Security
From what I remember reading, there are a few ppl getting either SSI or SSD, I don't remember which. I do remember they all used an attorney.
If you can collect and work at the same time? The reason you're getting it, is because you can't work.

Re: Social Security
Dustin does get SSDI. But along with the BPI he had TBI and has loss of coordination in his good hand and legs. He does walk but not as far or well as most. It was a struggle to get the SSDI, they were hoping he would improve enough before they approved him so that they could deny. Yes, there is a time frame that you can get both SS and work. It is a limited time, they want to make sure the job is going to work out for you before they cancel benefits and then have to restart them. I think it was 9 months, but am not possitive. You also can collect as long as you don't make more than $872 per month or there abouts. The way the have the BPI worded in the SS manual is that it MAY be eligible for disability, MAY being the key word, so it is not a guaranteed thing.
