tendon transfer for elbow flexion

Anyone had a tendon transfer for flexion of the elbow? I have no use of my left arm below the shoulder and this is the only thing the doctor said they could do to give me some use of the arm. It's been 3 years since my accident and they say I will never regain the use of my hand. Please email your experiences good or bad, and any doctors names. Thanks
