Does anyone who lives in NJ know if such a thing exists as medical assistance or the CHIP program that Francine spoke of in PA. My son has been denied pt and ot services and I am looking for some way to get him services short of having to pay out of pocket. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

There is a fund called the Catastrophic Illness in Children's Compensation Fund. I've helped parents of BP children receive money for surgery. Please e-mail me for additional information.

I don't know if Alan will write back but I know him personally and he's not in any way connected with Michael Weiss and Mary Wagner.
Alan has actually never posted to this board before today. And also - he's one of the top bpi specialist attorneys in NJ. This is not meant to advertise for him either but I just wanted you to know that he's a man of good character. I know his post did sound a bit conspicuous but let's give him the benefit of the doubt at least until he proves me wrong.
Maybe he will know how to tap into that fund to cover Patrick's therapy?

I live in NJ, and I remember looking into the Catastrophic Illness Fund 2 years ago. You have to have bills in excess of a certain % of your income. You can submit bills for any 12 month period you choose. They allow you to even include mileage to and from therapy, as well as hotel and airfare for surgery travel. You can contact the state and they will send you the paperwork.

Michele - is there something like the Medical Assistance that we have here in PA ? We have a secondary insurance that is given to us to handle things over and above whatever our primary insurance won't cover.

Your reaction was completely understandable Beth - until this new board got set up, the message boards weren't always a postive experience! And we have been hounded! So I'm sure we all understand where you are coming from. I hope you find some answers, however.

That is really great of you to apologize to Mr. Medvin, especially publicly. I'm sure he will understand, as we all do! One thing most of us share on this board is a difficult time with trust. (I know it has been a major issue for me personally in all areas of my life following my birth experience with my son.) And, to add to that it sounds like you have had some unsettling communication with someone you thought might be related to Mr. Medvin.
I really appreciate your ability and willingness to reconsider your initial perception, to give the benefit of the doubt, and then to take it a step further and apologize both personally and publicly. Wow. That takes maturity and strength.
