I called my PT the other day because since I have started my job I have been having tremendous shoulder/neck pain. (Yes, I know I'm a pain in the neck!!) He suggested I try to use a harness the seamstresses use to help alleviate my shoulder pushing forward while I am working. Apparantly I have to order one online and he's going to give me the website soon.
I was just curious if anyone has ever tried one and is it even worth going through to purchase one.
Thanks.
a.k.a. The pain in the neck gal.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Rachel, I will email you a picture later of something that sounds similar and can be made.
My OT made it for me last year and it helped to change my posture quite a bit while bringing my shoulder back.

Thanks Amy,
It's so weird though, I worked yesterday and wasn't hardly in pain at all but by the end of the night with all my running around for the kids etc. (Driving alot) I started to flare up a bit. My new e mail is marko@centurytel.net
How is school going for you?

Re: Anyone use a seamstress harness?
School gets crazy busy with homework. But I am having fun this year, I have a good group of friends and we hang out a lot. We have dinner together at least once a week but usually more. So its fun.
Classes are not too hard, my test well be this week, I have a medical terminology test today and a Anatomy/Physiology test tomarrow.
Better news My baby neice or nephew is supposed to be born today! They induced the mom (my sisters adopting) at 6:00am today! So I should have an awesome baby to play with when I go home tomarrow!
Thanks for asking!
Hugs,
Amy
by the way I will try to send those pics later today if I can.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I never heard of a seamstress harness...
I wonder if it would help me with some of the stress I feel in my shoulder after spending time on the computer.
Good luck with your tests Amy...
Can't wait to hear what the new baby is!!!
Sooo will you be Aunt Amy or Auntie Amy?
