Does any one have a design/techniques form one armed canoe paddles? I've moved onto the water and want to do some canoeing this fall when the lake is calm and the trees are turning.

Henry, I grab someone who is injured on the opposite side and paddle. Right Nancy!! That is the way I have prevented from going in circles. . They do have canoes with foot paddles! I have not tried them but have seen them. I will searh for a website for you...Judy

I posted the link mentioned regarding the Hobie Mirage pedal kayak. It is the greatest thing in the world. I have a left BPI and the rudder control is fortunately located on the right side. They have a single and double person version. Only drawback is that it is a little heavy and awkward to put on the racks of your vehicle. I have a jeep grand cherokee so it a little tall but something lower to the ground should make it easier to put on the roof of your car. I have had it for 3 or 4 years now and still love it.

-2 Sural nerves harvested from both Calves for nerve grafting.
-Partial Ulnar nerve grafted to Long Triceps.
-Uninjured C7 Hemi-Contralateral cross-over to Deltoid muscle.
-Wrist flexor tendon transfer to middle, ring, & pinky finger extensors.

This guy was a river guide and had his arm bitten off by a Hippo, went back to paddle the river he loved to complete a three-month, 1,600-mile kayak expedition.

I know canoeing is fun but I'm not so good with them myself. I tend to flip myself out of them from time to time!!
I just recently purchased a fly fishing pontoon boat and it has two oars. It was frustrating because I would be in so much pain. Now, I figured it out. I found some flippers that work and get a great leg work out. My hands are free to fish and change my flies or lures and I can maneuver it just about anywhere. They don't work out so well in really shallow rivers but they sure work like a charm when the rivers flowing well. Best of luck to you.
