Help after surgery

Post by Kathy O'Rourke »

Hi. It has been two weeks since Emma had the bicep lengthening and shoulder capsuldedsis. Has anyone had any problem with swelling around the forearm?

Also, she is suppose to be completely externally rotated (palm up) in her splint and every morning she wakes up completely internally rotated. We have tried several times to figure out why and to fix it. Our therapist was over last night and rigged up a beneck (sp?) splint. We'll see if it works. Has anyone had any of these problems. I'm waiting to hear from Dr. Nath.

Thanks

Kathy

We had the same exact problem after her Mod Quad and found if we put her wrist splint on her arm and then the airplane splint that her arm stayed externally rotated. Without it she would be internally rotated again within 5 minutes. It was suggested to us by her local therapists that the splint was "too loose" around the wrist and hand area and with the wrist splint on it took up the space and kept her arm from "sliding "out of position.
