Amy
I climbed up about half way on the rockwall at 2003 camp. I got stuck, somehow my bpi arm got above the rest of my body. .The arm got stuck so I had to let go and come down. It felt like such an accomplishment.I will never forget that moment.
Go for it Amy You can do it!!!

Congratulations, I'm sure you'll let us know how you make out. Wow, I was really hoping to get to camp in 2003 just for the wall. That's something I've always wanted to try, and maybe someday I'll get the chance evne if I never get off the ground I'd love to try. But till then, it will be your turn to climb as high as you can. And enjoy!!!

Thanks Traci,
I hope that you get a chance to try. I have the same feeling, even if I never make it off the ground, I still want to try. And the way I see it I have 4 more years after this one to make it off the ground if I dont make it this week.
Hugs,

Well I tried the wall tonight. I found out I do not have enough strength in my left arm or range in my right arm right now. On the bright side, I did make it off the ground! I got about 3 feet up with my feet but could not get another hold on the left side that would work before I fell off the first time. So I hung there for a sec, then tried again, but that did not last long, my left arm was too tired. It felt like jello so I waited about 20 minutes and then tried again, still could not get to that top blue hold no matter how hard I tried. That was a little dissapointing to me, but it gives me stuff to work on for next time. Here are 2 more pics from my second attempt (I think I fell off the wall 4 more times before untying and giving in for the night. But hey, I still have another 4 years to climb that and it is excellent therapy! I think it worked my left arm more though.

Thank you to every one who has thought about me and encouraged me! It means a lot. I am a bit dissappointed that I did not get any higher but I am so glad that I got to try. Now I have something to work on for next year!

Big Hugs to every one,

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
