Nerves heal at a rate of 1 mm per day... so it takes a LONG time, depending on how much damage there is...

Dustin is nearly 6 mo. post accident now. We are seeing more improvement now than before. Lots of OT excersizes and just recently e-stim. Seams to be working all be it too slow for us.

E-stim at home or physical therapy with chiro people? Has anyone had any benifits form extended home use ie at night (sleeping ...when possible to sleep)?
Re: Whats typical time frame fro nerve to heal
We go the hospital 2x per week for the therapy. They tried the e-stim once in a while, when they saw it was making the muscle work they sent one home to use 15 min. daily.

Hi Josh,
I wanted to add my two cents to strongly encourage you to get an estim unit & use it every day. Since it causes the muscle to contract, it will keep the muscle from atrophying during all the months it takes the nerve to grow out or repair itself. In terms of getting something to do that while you sleep, some doctors are concerned that you might hurt yourself - if the estim unit contact points shifted.
Take care,
Ellen
