What is exceptional !!! ?

Post by catchatrain »

Hi all,
Hope everyone is well.If this gets me in trouble oh well cause I have got to get this off my chest.People that have read some of my other post know that I am in awful financial shape. As a result of poor decision making thru much of my life,I understand that it's know ones fault but mine.
I stumbled into this injury as a direct result of that decision making, and understand that it is also my fault I'm where I am.That being said'I am trying everything I can to get the care I need.I stay on this puter night and day searching for someone to help me.!
The bone (specialist?) that reconstructed my wrist told me a few months ago to give it a year or so and then consider amputation to avoid carrying the dead wieght from know on.(He's an IDIOT.)
The nerve (specialist?) said the best thing to do is to give it 2 to 5 years and see what hapens!(He's an IDIOT.)
The main reasons I am getting this advice is because I do not have the money, insurance,or state funding to pay for the treatment needed.I am not stupid,I know these things can't be done for free!!
But wait.I have done the research and found that there are Dr.s out there that will help;that understand that people make poor choices financially;that really do need help!
Five months into my injury, and with the clock ticking I get this response.

Marshall,
I sent the fax from your doctor's office to our ..... doctor but what I am hearing is that they are not supporting charity unless the case is exceptional.

My thought is that the only hope of it getting approved is if you can get Dr. .... to call in & speak with Dr. ...... to see if he will consider your case exceptional. Sometimes, even though we have info/records in writing, I think it comes down to the doctors actually having a discussion about it.

I will call Dr. ..... office today to see if we can hook the doctors up. Will let you know any news.

....

Know that being said WHAT THE @!!%^^ IS EXCEPTIONAL!!!
I have a doctor that says aw hell give five years and call me.What is he going to tell anyone that's going to help.
I'm paralized from the shoulder down!I can't do any of the jobs I use to do.My life is turned completly upside down.I am in constant pain. But hold on...Exceptional...Exceptional.You got to be kidding me!!.
Sorry to rant I just don't understand.Leaving someone crippled for the rest of their life...(Well sorry about that sir, your TBPI wasn't exceptional enuff to get you the help you need.Just keep doing your exercises and call us if you !$#^^ up your other arm one day.)
Maybe I just don't want to understand.?

Hello all,
Well some good has come from my little rant.(Sorry bout that). It made me get off my bum and start over. All of my side projects have been put on hold for a minute, till I get everything straightend out.
Being told by most of the people that are capable of helping you, that they cannot help you is devastating. It has made me dig deeper in my effort to get help.
I've never been the type of person to ask anyone (person) directly for help in anything. So it's a pretty big learning curve.
Ellenb had given me a few names and numbers of people in my area a while back.I made a few calls to see what other options I had.
I was looking for advice, condolence, anything. The lady I talked to was just to kind. Her son in far worse shape than I am.(Or at least was,he's getting much better from what I here.)We traded war stories for a minute. She told me about Dr.Peljovich here in Atl. He's good at what he does and is the best option available given my situation.
We said our good byes, and in seconds the phone rang wright back. She told me to get my but to Dr. Peljovich .At this point I was told that the cost would be taken care of,(evaluation) and there was know reason not to have a proper evaluation.
Long story short.I am grateful beyond all to her and her family for giving me this chance. If nothing else at least I'll have something more than call me in three months...bla...bla..you know the story.I just can't believe there are still people like that here.
All I can say is thank you...thank you...thank you.
Just thought I would share.See Ya!!!!!
