SO PROUD of my baby

Post by momof2gr8kids »

I just needed to share this with everyone yesterday April 11 my daughter Arianna (8 yrs old) finally put her hair in a ponytail all by her self. We were sitting in the kitchen at the kitchen table watching t.v after dinner and I had just taken her hair out of the braids I did ..I said Anna move the hair out of your face and she did it, she use her left arm(LOBPI) to hold the hair then used her right hand to put on the scrunchie...whoo hoo she was so excited and I like the sap I am started to cry and hug her, told her how proud I am of her. So this morning I got up to do her hair and she was like I'll do it my self, it was a little messy but it still looked better than any ponytail I've ever done just because she was so proud of herself and she did herself. I know I have asked a few of you for tips about this before but I don't need it any more ...(smile) I just needed to share this with our "extended family" here. I know of every one I'll tell, everyone here can truly feel my JOY.

Wow Tracy,
That is awesome news.....isn't it funny how the little things they do just turn on the tears. That is great news. She will have it perfected in no time at all and her pony tails will look better than yours. See, I would be running out to put those scrunchees in her Easter Basket. Gayle

I just got teery eyed just thinking about it! I am proud of her too. I love to just sit back and watch what my little one (13 months) can do. I can't wait to see her put her hair up. Give your daughter big hugs and congrats from us!!!

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Yeah!!!!!! Tracy - I am so happy for you and your daughter! I feel your happiness!!!!!!! You have experienced something that most mom's might take for granted but in OUR world it is a HUGE thing!!! My daughter was around 6th grade before she could do her own hair - (without bubbles in her ponytail) now she is way better at it than I am!! She even adds sparkly stuff sometimes ! LOL I no longer get to fix her hair - she can do it now - and I miss those days - but I am so proud of her!! I am happy for you and your daughter - way to go - a new step!

I'll echo what everyone said! That's awesome!!! I understand the tears. I cried when I found my son sleeping with both his arms above his head. I was at my parent's house and he was asleep in the other room. I went to check on him and had to call the whole family in to see...we all cried. Congrats to your daughter...one of many great accomplishments I'm sure!

Tracy,

Congratulations on Arianna's big accomplishment! I couldn't put my hair in a decent ponytail when I was eight years old, my hair was long, and ponytails were in style, so I know what a BIG accomplishment this is.

Sorry, the last guest post was from me. I don't know what makes the computer suddenly turn me into a "guest."
