- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

I know how hard this show was for you.
I also know that the Dr.Phil show was cut and pasted to make it more dramatic.
I want to thank you for stepping up and opening your family to such scrutiny.
I was able to have friends who are birth educators watch this show. I also had pregnant girls watch the show.
I, personally, would much rather see a scared pregnant woman than to have to console a bpi mother.
Thanks again, to you and your family for stepping up to the plate and sometimes taking the heat.
You prevented bpi births in my area.

Hi! Is there anyway to see the show that was already aired? I'm in Canada & get Dr. Phil but when I went to his website it said that the link was no longer available. Is there a way for me to get it? Thanks so much! I'm sure you did great! Don't worry! TV is not the best source of factual information as we all know but if you were to at least express enough, good for you!

I did see the show, and was disappointed that the injury was not discussed in detail by Dr. Phil, but
his shows do seem to focus more on the psychological impacts of the subject matter, in my opinion. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being so brave and representing all of us who are and have been suffering through BPI! Sincerely, A Grandma

Hello
I was wondering how one could see this show. I was not aware of it and would really enjoy watching it. If you have any ideas let me know.
Thanks,
Tonia

Renee & Tonia,
If you would like me to send you a copy of the show just email me at InReach@npgcable.com After the recent post criticizing me, I almost cringe at the idea of sharing the show with anyone else and subjecting myself to harsh judgment. You just have to promise me that you won't judge other bpi moms based on what you see in the dramatic and Hollywood edited version of the show. Deal? It was about having the rare chance to mention this ignored injury on national t.v. and for all the viewers to see just how much this injury can potentially impact our families. Anyways, I would be happy to send you a copy, so just let me know if you would like me to.
Take care,
Lisa

You are great for sharing this with anyone...
You should be proud of your self for being so brave and going on TV with you emotions so raw.
You even helped my older brother ( 80 years old). He saw this show and was deeply touched by it. He understood perfectly the impact on the family. He is the oldest and I am the youngest in our family. He talked to me about what happened the day they brought me home from the hospital so excited to have a baby sister. He talked about the shock my mother got when she saw my arm. It seems in the hospital they did not let her see it because my arm was pinned down (both) because I was scratching my face.
We know that was a BIG LIE because I still can't scratch my face with my right hand.
It gave him a chance to talk about it and he was glad to see the whole world would know about it. It must have been hard for them to explain my arm to their friends but they did not have a clear picture of what happened. They did know that the Doctor made a big mistake and pressed to hard even 66 years ago.
Thanks again for stepping up and doing this for all of us... even the older OBPI's.

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.

Lisa,
I would like a copy, too, please. I sent you an e-mail with my full name and address. I promise not to judge you harshly. I agree with Kath and Carolyn. You are very brave. Thank you for going national to tell about this injury.
I was the youngest of three. My sister (oldest) died four years ago. I know that she was disappointed that she couldn't touch the baby (me). She treated me badly most of my life, but then, others also found her to be a difficult person.
My brother says that he doesn't remember much from childhood. He is amazed at what I remember, and I am amazed that he doesn't remember.
