Update-Chloe will soon turn 1!!!

Post by Chloesmom »

I can NOT believe it has been a year(almost). This birthday is bitter sweet-She is one and supposably suppose to be completely healed. And she is doing so good-but not completely healed. We still do OT one time a week. We just recently started doing E-stim and splinting because of elbow bending. She is reaching over her head and behind her head. She has almost full external rotation. She supinates about 30' past nuetral. She crawled at 7 months and is now walking. We are so proud of her. We really have been blessed. I am still struggling with whether to get any legal advice. It seems we have been through so much this year. Anyway thanks to all of you for all the support you showed me - especially in the begining when I felt like no one understood-not even me.

Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.

My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!

I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Chloesmom: Happy Birthday to Chloe. My son just turned 5 and he had about the same movement until he had the ModQuad at 11 mos. That surgery gave back a lot of function.

About the legal process, you still have another year to file but I wouldn't want until the last minute. It's ver hard to win a medical malpractice case but so long as it's on a contingency fee (you pay the lawyers nothing unless they win) what do you have to lose.
