Hi,
Just wanted to post an update on Alyssa's TT surgery we had in May 2005. Recently we noticed that Alyssa's elbow started to flair again (nothing like it did before- but still flairing). We sent her doctor a video and he is now recommending she wear her gunslinger splint when she sleeps for 1 year! Other than the flairing, her shoulder is still in the socket and doing well in that aspect. We are also thinking it could be a growth spurt and we are documenting her growth now.
Anyone else post-op TT having to do splinting again? Just curious...

We are about 8 weeks post TT and I spoke with my son's doc about a week ago. We mentioned that my son would most likely need to wear the splint for "up to a year" to prevent issues from growth spurts.
He also mentioned that they are working on a soft splint to wear in place of the gunslinger.

By the way, I forgot to mention that, although it is early, his arm looks really good!

Alannah will be postop TT one year at the end of May. Her elbow just recently started flaring again, but we have not yet sent pictures or video yet. Even with the flaring, her function is still the same improved function she has had since her surgery! - Camille B.

Alyssa's mom,
I don't know if you remember me, but our daughter, Maddy had the mod quad the same day as Alyssa had her triangle tilt. We talked to Dr. Nath about having to wear a splint at night for a year or so. This is kind of scary for us, because we were hopeful that these problems wouldn't return. Does she still have good function? Maddy is scheduled to have the triangle tilt with Dr. nath on August 9th. I would feel better if you could email me directly. I have a few questions for you if it is not too much trouble. My email address is andreavercelli@sbcglobal.net. Thank you so much.

Our daughter will be having TT surgery in April...with Dr. Nath. How is you child doing post-op and how did she handle the cast?

Anyone else's child have the flaring recur after this surgery? I find this worrying, what else might pop up down the track?
