Pec release?

Post by hope16_05 »

Has any one here ever had a pec release? I know mine is always tight and causes strain on muscle in my back = pain in my shoulder

I was considering asking my doctor about it since surgery to stabalize my scapula is now being discussed. He thinks that because my scapula is unstable that this would be the main cause for the pain and numbness in my shoulder. I was just thinking that my pec might be part of the problem.

Any info would be great!
Thanks all,

Amy,
I know in my kinesiology class at school we were told that a tight pec major muscle can be the cause of scauplar tipping. I don't have my notes with me as they are in pittsburgh and I am home in philly but I know that the pec major and scapular positioning can be related so I would ask your doctor about it. Hope this helps.

thanks Becky,
That does help a little. I have not yet taken that class but I have talked a little with my OT about it. I will definitely ask my dr. about it when I see him.
Thanks,

Hi Amy,

I have had the pecs release, actually twice, both times as part of shoulder surgery. Since it was just part of other interventions -- releases, transfers, neurolysis -- I honestly have no idea what role it played in the gains I got followling surgery. It was just part of the 'package'.
