magnets & post surgery healing

Post by Connie&Andrew »

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has used magnets when their children were healing from surgery. (Nikken or something similar)

We have done some research on magnet therapy and believe that it can aid in healing, etc.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has used them.

Thanks,
Connie

Somebody posted an article about this from Dr. Upledger (head of Upledger Institute - Cranio-Sacral Therapy) about a year ago. I'll try and track it down for you.

Nikken is an MLM (multi level marketing) type of scenario where the sale of distributorships (and the amount of product a distributor has to purchase) seems to be more important then the product itself. If you choose to use magnet therapy you can get very good quality magnets about 80% cheaper and I can get you links for that too.

It is my professional opinion that magnetic therapy - (should you still choose to use it once you read Upledger's paper) should be prescribed and supported by an acupuncturist. Magnetic therapy should not be dealt with lightly.

Believe it or not, I got my magnets from a vet where I used to take my dogs. He was great. You do need to be very careful how you use the magnets as they can harm.
A chiropractor I had went to also used magnets and when I told him it felt like my polarities had switched around, he didnn't believe me until he did some kind of test. He was amazed, My north and south had flip flopped. The magnets really helped my dogs and they seemed to know just how long the magnets should be left in position. Amazing. I'm obpi and have not had any noticable results but occasionally I'll get them out and try again. Sharon

Sharon that is so interesting - you reminded me of something.... in my practice we use something called ion pellets - this are seed size magnets that are very powerful...and when their work is done they pop off! They become an irritation and either they pop off themselves or you (without even realizing it) scratch them off.

magnets from a vet huh? reminds me of the Vet Wrap we use - it's coban but it's half the price of human coban.

We have been using magnets with Jocey since she born. To be honest I though we were crazy but we has been doing all the alternative stuff for our daughter. I never told any body before about this. She have it between the mattress and the box spring. Before Jocey born my husband read or saw a TV program where they talk about magnets and the tissue regeneration. I though he is getting crazy when I saw him doing that.

The same day the baby arrived home from the hospital he broke two speakers and removed them and put it under the baby mattress, since that she always has been sleeping with them. That was the first thing he told me to pack when we moved to Texas.

I have to ask him because he marked the magnets with the side who have to face up. You can't put either way. Also he prepared one to give massages, instead of the direct contact with the hands he use a magnet with rounded corners.
