A reply to what Crystal said, I agree that you need to have a meeting, you need to print, what needs to be printed from here. If you cannot explain then print everything possible from here. My son is in second grade......his teacher this year is GREAT !!! At the beginning of the year....I printed them all kinds of information and then sent it in with him the first day of school. the PE teacher and his classroom teacher were great and I do believe they both lurk about these boards now! the only one that wasn't receptive was the health aide. I don't think that she even took the time to open the envelope. Her loss, but if something happens everyone including administation would back me up, I gave them more than enough information to help them with my son. I would fight for my son to go back to school earlier, only because I think they need their friends too. Discuss it long and hard with the doctor. You are getting information from the "EXPERTS" the one's that have had the experience. Amy and Marieke are great girls.....don't forget also, you might want to go in or havae the teacher explain before surgery what is going to happen, and how your daughter should be treated, however, I think they should understand by third grade that this would justify a "HANDS OFF" policy.....Good Luck let us know how things work out !!! - Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".
There is NO SUCH THING AS A DUMB QUESTION.
