yup, Jason..... my accident was on 7/10/05. I have left bpi, i did have enough function on my left hand for controls and clutch. I was in the slow process of fixing everything myself, and then get on my bike by April.

Well I got my surgery last Friday. I'm on this super sling for 3 weeks. Anyway, I noticed my grip is not as strong as before to pull in the clutch. Hopefully it would get stronger.

There are a few riders on another board in the UK. One guy "teleking" moved all of his controls to one side of the bike. He has no bi or tricep function and does trackdays. He said it feels weird at first, but just takes time to adapt.

I haven't tried riding yet, but I will once I feel better.

Hi Jason

Check out the TBPI Group messageboards...plenty of the guys who post there still ride even without the use of one arm. http://pub28.ezboard.com/badultswithbra ... usinjuries Also, have a look at the N.A.B.D. website The NABD are an organisation that exist purely to get disabled bikers back on the road. They have many members with a TBPI who ride again with the help of a few adaptions.
http://www.nabd.org.uk/ Having a TBPI shouldn't stop you from riding again if you want to. Good luck mate.

I ride a snowmobile one-handed with all the controls on the left. You just need a strong arm.

I'm now thinking of a small bike, maybe 250 cc, if I can find an automatic.

I also have to see if I can get a license in Canada. If anyone has any info on that I'd appreciate it.

Cheerios,

I am LTBPI and my arm is totally flail. I ride occasionally on a bike I built before my accident. I flopped the clutch control to the right so I can ride it and I ride with my flail arm in my pocket. I think I miss riding he most of everything that comes with this injury so every once in a while I just have to get out there in the wind

Just a quick note--my husband got his motorcycle back about two weeks ago-- and has been riding. He had a friend ride it home from the shop and tried it out as soon as they got it home. Everything is going fine and once his arm is on the handle bars away he goes. He did notice at first that his clutch hand was tiring, but the hand seems to be gettting stronger from using the clutch and does not tire any longer. I myself sat on the back--seems we'll have to get me on with the kickstand down (i'm a bigger gal). I don't know when I'll go for an actual ride- I held out this long but summer is here and I don't want to tag along anywhere in something with four wheels. Still praying for recovery for his work and who knows maybe the vibrations will help that along too--Thanks YEAH!!!!!
