Teething

Post by christy »

OK this may sound weird but Katie doesn't have many teeth yet (took her forever to get any after months of screaming and slobbering). She has four in front each on top and bottom, two bottom molars (one each side) and one top molar. It appears as though the incisors are missing. We had her checked about six months ago because she didn't even have that many then but he told us to wait awhile until we could get her to sit still for a panaorex.

Anyone else have this problem? How many teeth should she have at 24 months? It is has been so long I have forgotten but it seems like my kids had mouthfuls and the other kids at daycare younger than her have more teeth than she does.

thanks

.Christy I have the opposite problem Thomas is only 11 months and has 12 teeth he started cutting at 4 months and has just cut four molars which I thought would come later? But as for my daughter Makayla she is almost 7 she was over 12 months before she cut any teeth.

If I remember right, the incisors usually come in after those first molars. I don't how unusual it is to have that few teeth at 24 months, though. I know there is a big difference when kids get their teeth. My first one got his first teeth at 3 months, my daughter didn't have any until about 10 or 11 months.
I'm not much help, but I thought I'd share my experience.

I looked in my "What to Expect the Toddler Years" Book and they said that the teeth you are thinking are missing would be the next ones to come in (after she gets that other molar on Top. And they said that it usually takes three years for them to get all of thier teeth.

Ian is 14 months and only has 8 teeth.. all the front ones. He has always gotten two at a time. My daughter was different. And that is the normal with kids and teeth.

From what I can gather Katie only has 6 more teeth that still need to appear and about a year to get them in before you need to worry. And from your your post she is getting them in the order my book laid out!

Hope this helps you to rest at ease! Only one more year of teething!! (Yuck- LOL!)

Gabrielle was late at getting teeth. Her doctor said the longer they stay in the better the teeth usally are. She is almost two and has about the same amount as Katie.

Rosalynn was slow to get teeth, then a whole bunch came in at one time about a month or so ago. I wouldn't worry. My nephew did not get his back teeth in until he was a little over 2yrs.
