This study may have been posted before, I can't remember where I first read it.
Chronic Pain shrinks the actual gray matter of the brain up to 20 years worth of aging! Not the kind of maturation one hopes for. Effecting the memory and reasoning centers of the brain.

All the more ways to find ways of coping with it as best as possible.
Good luck to all.
Chris
PS It should be noted that Professor/Dr, Geoffrey Raisman and Dr. Thomas Carlstedt, both in the U.K,, are working on stem cell related surgeries not only to return use and function but TO eradicate the neuropathic pain associated w/BPI as well!!!

Re: Pain matures you...?
This link has mention of Raisman's work involving repairing severed nerves and pain reduction thru stem cell surgery. This may be the new and improved response to the DREZ operation...

"If this works well, it opens the door to an enormous area," Prof Raisman said. "This is a door which has never been opened: to repair injuries to the brain and spinal cord caused by the disconnection of nerve fibres. The best possible outcome will be that these patients will get a return of sensation to the arm and a reduction of the pain associated with that injury."
