Thanks Angela,
My idea behind the journal from birth forward was so that when I look back I wont forget. I just wish I has started this when I was younger. It is great to be able to look back even two months ago and see where I was.
The only thing I wish I knew is how severe my injury actually is, with the things left that I can not do It seems more sever to me that a stretch injury how ever the OT at the college keeps telling me that most likely my nerves were just stretched. Does that make sense?
Kath, Nancy, and Carolyn,
It is great to keep you all updated, that way when I have more questions for you, you will know what I am talking about. I really appreciate all your kind words and support over the last couple years! (Can you believe that it has been almost 3 years since my first post and over three years since I first found UBPN. How the time flies!)
Thanks Everyone for reading my story!
Hugs,
Amy 18 ROBPI from MN

Re: Update
Yes Amy, that does make sense. However, by the time my Jill was 6 weeks old I had taken her to 3 different so called specialists at 3 different Hospitals (one in Peoria, and 2 different hospitals in Chicago) The 2nd one at Childrens at least took the time to explain the injury in more detail......then went on to say "he was SURE Jill's 2 main nerves were AVULSED." He did explain that if they were only stretched or just a partial tear, there could be return. However He was absolutely CERTAIN Jill's entirely limp arm and hand (with absolutely no feeling) meant that her nerves were AVULSED. He even said, there was do need to do the DIE test to see, he was so certain. At least I wouldn't leave his office until I was allowed to come back for therapy. I am sure he thought I was CRAZY, and that I just needed to prove that crazy idea to myself. Sadly I had to keep proving it to a lot of Doctors and therapists along the way, as the years went on.
Now it would be nice to know, just HOW badly Jill's nerve(s) were. I have always thought maybe even if they were avulsed, the active stimulation I did, made the nerves branch out and find little attachments. I am no scientist, but I DO know even Science disproves old ideas.
I am so proud of you Amy. Angela
