I want to take a minute or two to thank all of you from the boards. Everyone has so much to contribute, even when we vent, someone out there gets something from it.
So many people take the time to respond, take the time to post, take the time to cry with you, take the time to listen. Where would some of us be without each other.
And we do it for each other even if and when we can't do anything else because of the pain.
Most of us had never of "erbs palsy" at least us older ones, until we did a search and found this forum.
I especially want to personally thank Kath for all her support. She was there when I first found the forum, and was like an angel in a dark time. Kath, I'm sure you were there for others as well. You seem to be tireless (and you like to talk, like I do) LOL, LOL. You always can come up with something, even if it's "hey, just hang in there" Usually you have a suggestion. And the countless personal emails you have taken time to send to, probably most of us.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who sincerely appreciates you and what you have done and what you are doing. This email is for you, Kath, from me, as well as from others.
Seems like now days, we just don't take the time to tell people they are needed and doing a great job. Thank You Sharon
Thank You

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: LOBPI. I am 77 yrs old and never had a name for my injuries until 2004 when I found UBPN at age 66.
My injuries are: LOBPI on upper body and Cerebrael Palsy on the lower left extremities. The only intervention I've had is a tendon transplant from my left leg to my left foot to enable flexing t age 24 in 1962. Before that, my foot would freeze without notice on the side when wearing heels AND I always did wear them at work "to fit in" I also stuttered until around age 18-19...just outgrew it...no therapy for it. Also suffered from very very low self esteem; severe Depression and Anxiety attacks started at menopause. I stuffed emotions and over-compensated in every thing I did to "fit in" and be "invisible". My injuries were Never addressed or talked about until age 66. I am a late bloomer!!!!!
I welcome any and all questions about "My Journey".

Re: Thank You
Thank YOU too, Sharon for saying it soooo well for me feeling the same way.Kath has been "The Angel" for many finding UBPN for the 1st time,me among them. This is what Family, our UBPN Family is all about and sharing everything we can so no one ever feels alone anymore like most of us adults have felt all our lives up to the day we found this web site.
I like to think of our taking the time on the Boards as "earning our way to Heaven" and Kath, Nancy and the all of the UBPN BOD, have one BPI limb each hung over the Pearly Gate all ready!
Hugs all around & Camp 2007 or Bust!,

Re: Thank You
Dear Sharon and Carolyn too. You said it so well. Kath and I have bonded too....and you are right. I only lived through BPI because of the birth of my 3rd daughter. I never realized, ALL the other things that would also pop up later. I did figure out some of the other things that BPI affected, but I did not know about the future pain that will come for my Jill.
Kath have bonded in another light. My mother died 3 weeks after my oldest daughter was born (25 years ago) and I have NO SISTERS. I desperately needed a SISTER. As the years go on I have accumulated more than one. Each is very unique and I treasure ALL of my sisters. I would like to consider KATH as one of my special sisters born of my heart. I am blessed.

Re: Thank You
Wow! I didn't realize that what Kath does for me, she also does for so many others.
Kath, you are a blessing. I am grateful.
I am also especially grateful to UBPN in general; and, in particular, Nancy and Carolyn.

Re: Thank You
Well I need to join in here too! Kath - we've been email buddies for years and you have helped me thru some rough times! You gave us pointers on how to do cart wheels, that a jump rope should be longer so that she could swing it around, to buy a washer and dryer with front entry instead of top entry - and so many other things. You also showed me that my child would do fine in life, and what to be cautious (SP?) of so that she could be stronger and not over-do herself. Today my child CAN jump rope and even criss-cross it!:) She is doing some of her own laundry (Yippee)but she never had the guts to completely do that cart wheel Kath! (not your fault!) LOL LOL
John P , Steff, Judy, Nancy, Carolyn, (I could keep going here but hopefully all know how much their input helps) and ALL have helped me so much. I appreciate everyone taking that time to post their experiences and their thoughts so that I can do the best for my child. You are giving to someone who you may have not even met - and every post is a contribution and very much appreciated.
Thank you to all out there who take that time to help others,
Christy

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Re: Thank You
Well, as most of you know I am not usually at a loss for words... but this post left me speechless.
Thanks so much for the kind words but remember all of you have helped me too...
I cannot tell where I would have been if it had not been for my UBPN family.
I learned from the parents and then of course my peers like Nancy, Judy T, Mike Turano (RIP) and jennyb.
The day we started to compare notes on life as bpi injured was a major turning point for me.
Christy... tell Brit I can't do a cartwheel anymore. Now I am afraid to try anymore!
I know she can do it so she better get going, keep those legs straight and start from the unaffected side.
Before she knows it she will have to give it up...LOL...
Thanks for making my day!
