Well done!! It's so hard to stop taking the drugs, for many reasons so well done you! You deserve a treat...when I finally gave up the so called pain killers, I muched my way through a whole half kilo of the most expensive chocolate I could find. Felt sick afterwards, but boy, was it a worth it!

i wish i was completely medicine free. my doc put me on namenda, which has helped a lot, and then weened me off the neurontin.

i'm not doing so hot with the pain (i also have rsd) but i'm managing. the worst problem is that i can't sleep again so i will be taking something additional at night to help with that.

Ok, this sounds funny but my OB/GYN told me the safest thing to take over the counter to help me to sleep is allergy meds. And it works!!! I love it.

Its a good thing to be off the neurontin. It caused extreme sweeling in my ankles. A friend had her entire body swell. When I saw the neuroligist they told me it should not be prescribed for BP patients.

My husband has had BP for 20+ years from trauma. His pain is worsening and sleep is rare. Our HMO doc wants to try Neurontin. From all I've read here, it sounds like it is more problem than solution. Is there anyone that has had success with this anti-seizure medication?

It greatly reduced my pain. The problem for me however, was awful cognitive side effects. I lost my short-term memory, had awful dizzy spells, and often had slurred speech.

For me personally, I'd prefer to be in pain than running around mumbling and not remembering anything. It's gotten in the way at my job, and was a bit scary about surviving grad school.

Just keep in mind that it is an addictive medication and it can sometimes be a fight to get off of it, it just depends on the person.
