Hey,
Just curious if anyone on this list has ever been to a physical therapist in the pittsburgh area with maybe some knowledge about BPI, obstectric or otherwise(i'm obstetric). I am in PT right now because my neck muscles are way to tight from overcompensation and my shoulder and biceps are way to tight from the pesky nerve damage. My PT I'm seeing now seems good but I wonder if someone with BPI experience would be more helpful. If anyone from the area has a name or any ideas about loosening tight muscles(i already stretch on my own) I'd appreciate it.

Hey Becky,
I am not familiar with that area but I think getting in the water and swimming as often as possible will help loosen those tight muscles - maybe join a health club with a pool. The water has been so great for my daughter. She becomes "free" in water and seems so loose after she swims. Even getting in and moving around (you don't have to swim laps) seems to help her alot. I hope someone here can help you also find a good PT. Good luck and I hope you get some good replies to your post,

- Injury Description, Date, extent, surgical intervention etc: I am ROBPI, global injury, Horner's Syndrome. No surgery but PT started at 2 weeks old under the direction of New York Hospital. I wore a brace 24/7 for the first 11 months of my life. I've never let my injury be used as an excuse not to do something. I've approach all things, in life, as a challenge. I approach anything new wondering if I can do it. I tried so many things I might never have tried, if I were not obpi. Being OBPI has made me strong, creative, more determined and persistent. I believe that being obpi has given me a very strong sense of humor and compassion for others.

Christy is right about swimming but since you are very tight now you would have a hard time with cold water.
Miss Christy is from sunny warm Texas.... LOL...
They swim all year and it is the best exercise she is so right!
Your weather is getting colder now. Mine is COLD, damp and miserable.... I miss summer already.
If you want to get a good stretch you have to be in water that is above 90 degrees. I use a hot tub to loosen up my arms, neck and back.
If you go to indoor pools most of them are maintained at 86 degrees and that is not warm enough to loose up your muscles.
Once you are loose swimming is a great way to keep your self loose.
