Dr.Kozin@Shriner's in Philadelphia

Post by ZaidraZavian »

My daughter, Zavian, has had both primary and MOD QUAD surgery at TCH. Although she is doing a whole better, I'm still concerned about the "no-hand function" and have decided to see Dr.Kozin in January 2006. Can someone please tell me a little about him and surgeries he has performed on you or your child. I met him at Camp this year and was truly impressed, but still need you all's help. I trust that everyone here can offer me some guidance. She has been seeing Dr.Shenaq and Dr.Schwabe(for BOTOX) but I'm wondering if she needs to start seeing an orthopeadic(excuse my spelling-I didn't graduate from medical school!!!) or just stick with Dr.Shenaq for now. PLEASE HELP!!!!

My son, Javier also sees Dr. Kozin. Jav is just 8 months post- primary and we are still waiting to see what all is going to happen. Kozin did not do his surgery, but he is an EXCELLENT doctor in my opinion. I just wanted to let you know that even if you decide to keep your current docs, another opinion for Zavian can't hurt. Good luck with everything.
If you appt. at Shriners is definately in Jan, lat me know what day. We will be there to see Kozin on Jan.25.

We personally do not have the same issue as your child has, but our daughter had a subluxed shoulder that needed surgery. She had the anterior capsule release with Dr. Kozin in December 2004. The expereience was nothing short of wonderful. He is a wonderful surgeon and doctor, and he put me at ease (which is no small feat as I am a nurse who picks everything apart medically). We are to go back in December for a 1 year follow-up MRI, but we are sure the results are going to be excellent as her progress has been amazing. He is very easy to speak with, ask questions to, ask the same questions again to, and his staff is wonderful. Good luck.

I would like to thank you all for helping me make the right decision. When I spoke with Dr.Kozin at Camp, he took one look at Zavian and said, yes he could help her. I was completely smitten with him just after listening in on the panel, but Zavian's dad was skeptical. Well, Philadelphia it is. Thank's!!!

Never mind the comment about the "tickle-man"...I got the names confused with someone we meet at camp.
