Your current doctor (family practice, or who ever you see) can also help, they can refer you and even help set up appointments. I was reading that today actually when I was reading more on my doctor who works there.

Hey everyone, I am the one who wrote this initial posting. On Oct 3rd we took our son to Mayo Clinic and we were very impressed and loved the docs there. They found that Mike had avulsions of C4, C5 and C6. They did three nerve transfers and now we have to wait and pray. If we had not gone to a specialist we would have never known about the avulsions. Our doctor here told us just to wait 1-2 years and hope for changes. Thanks to everyone for your imput!

Jeanne, I'm encouraged by your note. What surgeries did Mayo do (i.e. what was transferred?) John began to see twitches around 6 months out - hopefully you'll see them even sooner.

Take care,

Ellen

Hi Jeanne,
As I write this our 16 year old son is in surgery here at the Mayo Clinic. He has been in for 5 hours now. This has to be one of the toughest days of our lives, the waiting to hear... I'm glad you are through it, hopefully we will also be through the hardest part soon. Please keep in touch with your son's progress. You are a few weeks ahead of us.

You are in our thoughts and prayers.

My son who is now 16 suffered a brachial plexus injury on June 11, 2005. It was just diagnosed on Sept 2nd. We are looking for a BPI doctor. Can anyone tell me if they have gone to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and how you felt about the doctors there? Also, for those of you who have had surgery - was it successful and are you glad you had it done?
