Re: Headed to Minnesota
We also have to travel in and stay at hotels when we go to Mayo. Parking is an absolute nightmare and they charge to park in their ramps. Always give yourself an extra half hour to park :D I also think on the main Mayo website they give lodging info. We stayed at the hotels that connected to the cli...

Re: Explaining injury to children
My husband was so creative. Right away he told the kids it was his monkey arm. And that is why it doesnt work right and will be his monkey forever. The kids took to that well. they were(9,5,15 months when the accident happened)They often talk about his monkey and ask him if his monkey hurts today. I...

Re: radiofrequency ablation for pain management
I forgot to add that Chris also did some hypnosis for pain management. A doctor friend of mine went to Harvard to learn how and said its a stardard of care at the hospital out there for chronice pain patients. It works really well short term, he left the appt with no pain, but it did not reduce his ...

radiofrequency ablation for pain management
Has anyone heard of it? and its success? My hubby switched to the VA pain clinic and this doc thinks its going to be a huge answer for him. He is also currently having his "good" arm hurt at the shoulder. He thinks its from overuse, but who knows. Any input would be great!! And if he goes ...

Re: Depression and anger
Its so hard watching the one you love go through so much! I do that too. Don't give up. Appeal the state insurance and fight for your right for medical care for him. My husband also has the curled up hand, but he is glad they reattached it. He has figured our ways to use it. He is still an excellent...

Re: Glad to have found this board! Tons of questions!
Thanks for the reply's. He is discharged from the BPI clinic in Rochester. From a functioning standpoint the left arm is what it is. I think we will find a neurologist locally. Chris saw a neurologist in Mayo and an autonomic specialist there. But our insurance is an HMO and they give me heck when w...

Glad to have found this board! Tons of questions!
My name is Becky and I am married to Chris. He was in a major MVA in 2007. He is now 33. He is a walking miracle. But its been such a long road and a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Chris had his left forearm ripped off when his pick-up collided with a grain truck on his way to work. He had a ton of...
