Re: a question
Sounds like it may be a complication/infection from surgery. Infections can travel in the bloodstream. If you spot a redline traveling up your arm go to an ER room immediately. I hope everything heals soon!

Re: Mom looking for advice
Hi there. My son Garrett is also 7 yrs old, he has a left arm brachial plexus injury from birth too. We are near the Detroit, MI area and the only surgery he has had was when he was 4 yrs old and it was at U of M Childrens Mott. U of M Hospital has it's own Brachial Plexus group, with a board of dif...

Re: New to Site - Looking for support and advise
Does Gavin have any use of his BPI arm? My son was born in May of 2003 also weighing 12 lbs. He had his grip but that was the only movement he could do with it. I was told that his motion would come back after 3 months, but he didn't actually start moving his arm until October. We did therapy, chiro...

Re: New and looking to connect!
Hi Shona, My name is Carrie, and my 1st son Garrett was 12 lbs at birth and suffered a LOBPI. We were also told that is was just a little nerve damage, it was very common and movement should come back after 3-4 months. I think that we are told that so we didn't have a hissy fit in the hospital. Unfo...

Another Big Baby
I am 31 weeks into my 2nd pregancy. My 1st son was 12lbs at birth (38wks). I just found out on Monday that despite all of my efforts ( little weight gain, watching glucose levels) my 2nd son is 5.3 lbs already!!!! My new OBGYN assures me that I have done nothing wrong and I know this one will be del...

Re: A note to all concerned parents of BPI children:
Wow! Thank you so much!!!! Sometimes I feel like a drill sergeant pushing my son (7yrs) to try things. It's good to know that he will appreciate it one day. The good thing is - he never gives up. He just finds another way to make it work. The downside to that is he applies it to all aspects of his l...
