Re: TENDON TRANSFER?
I had a nerve transfer 6 months after my accident. I had a muscle transfer a year later. It was quite something to go through - especially the 2 months I had my arm in a contraption lifting it parallel to my head. Yet, all and all, when it was over, I received more use of my left arm. I would not wa...

Re: Anyone teenage?
I am 48 and was 43 when I was injured in my accident. I have a daughter just 3 years older than yours and can only imagine how she is dealing with all of the variables she is dealing with. School, friends, injury and pain. Bless her heart! It was not until I went to the Mayo Clinic that I actually e...

Re: Nerve transfer surgery tomorrow
Best of luck with the surgery. Nerve Transfer will take around 8 months to a year for your body to begin using those nerves. It is a long process - but NO DOUBT it is worth it.

Re: motorcycles and BPI
I had never heard of TBPI before it happened to me. I found this site soon after my injury and I am so thankful I learned what to do next. I Had nerve transfers and experience some use of my arm a year later.

Re: ROLL CALL ( LURKERS TOO!!!!!!! )

I suffered 2 avulsions in my spinal cord as well as 9 broken bones. My left arm was useless for a year. I had a nerve transfer done b...

Re: New member as of 7/20/12
Francisco, Sorry to say, Welcome to the World of Traumatic Brachial Plexus Injuries! When I read your submission you reminded me so much of myself 4 years ago when this injury occurred to me. I floated around with different meds but was somewhat determined to live without medication one day. (*I hav...

Re: 2 years post op....burning, tingling, how much better?????
The first thing I would say is you would do well to make sure you meet with the brachial plexus surgeons at the Mayo Clinic. As far as the burning I do believe that you will find it does not even that you do learn how to deal with it better. If the nerves from the spinal cord are not avulsed but are...

Re: Amputation...
I am of the opinion you will be better off keeping your arm. Yet I have full function of my hand. I know that Many of you do not. If I did not have full hand function I would probably be more apt to consider amputation as well. Good luck with your decision
